Font from the book 'Drood' by Dan Simmons

Aug 17, 2011 at 02:11

Hey! I am looking for the font used in the book 'Drood' by Dan Simmons. The font is used on the cover of the book for the word 'Drood' as well as it is the same font used for the first capital letter of every chapter.

here is a link to view the first few pages of the book.

OR you can flip through the first few pages on Amazon as well

You can see that the first letter in chapter one is M and it is in the font I am looking for.

The closest font I have found is the 'shit happens' font by Billy Argel http://www.dafont.com/shit-happens.font , though it is not a perfect match. The M of 'shit happens' is almost a perfect match to the one in the first chapter of 'Drood' but the capital D on the cover does not quite match. For the longest time I thought it was just 'Edwardian Script ITC' but the lower case letters do not match up though the D is quite similar. Does anyone know what the font is used in the book 'Drood'? Could it be that it is a font designed and used only in the book? Perhaps it is just a hybrid of lots of cursive fonts?

Thanks for your help!!

By Gosh you have done it! There seems to be an additional curly tail at the front of the 'D' on the cover of the book, but I can only guess that it was added specifically for the book 'Drood' as a stylistic choice (though I suppose there still could be a font out there that matches it perfectly). I can't thank you enough, I have searched everywhere and somehow never came across Bickham Script.

Thanks for saving the day!
