Um, let's remember that the game was originally created around 1933, when even wealthy manufacturers just didn't have the variety of fonts that we do today...they just had not been created yet.

The cards use some sort of condensed grotesque font, and yes, Helvetica bold Condensed will work fine for reproducing the Cards.

The Script at the top of the cards, Community Chest and Chance, is NOT Brush Script. I have no idea who the original artist or foundry are, but Bitstream issued a render of it: Freehand 521 Script.

Yep on the use of Kabel for the board, and Copperplate is used to list the prices on the places. As far as the "GO" and the question mark on the board, I hand drew these pieces, although the Chance slot might be a crude render of Kabel, from the original board.

Sincerely, with absolutely no life,

Gare

Gare -

I had thoughts of the 1933 and Helvetica did not come around till the 1960s...
However Freehand 521 is Bitstream's version of Brush (back in the day when folks changed a few things - including a name so as not to pay royalties to any manufacturer.)

On that note - Have a wonderful Christmas --

Brush was designed in 1942 by Robert E. Smith.

Edited:
The fonts used in the card in the image are not identical to original card from 1930s and card in the image looks like a reissue from perhaps circa 1960s
This is a 1936 card

The script font appears to be Mandate, by Ludlow released in 1934. For a digital version see Freehand 521 http://myfonts.us/td-EyEtLq
Not certain about the Gothic lettering.

Date _1936_ could be rendered -- more or less -- with Copperplate Gothic Pro 33 BC http://myfonts.us/td-U8Dxbt

Hi donshottype—

Can you tell me how you are able to post an image on this board? Mandate appears to be dead-on for the card script, and I'd like to show a visual comparison between what I used about a year ago on a modeled scene I did, and the fonts that are suggested on this thread.

TIA, and I'm glad I discovered this resource.

And also that some of my typefaces are available here!

You can use a file sharing service like Imgur
http://imgur.com/xkNbR7d
Use the pull down menu "upload images" and drop your image on the target area that appears.
After you have uploaded your image to Imgur, go to the "share this image" menu of choices on the right hand side, highlight the code for "BBCode (Forums)", copy the code, and paste it in the text of your Dafont post.

Thanks for the instructions, donshottype! Believe it or not, I'm a Super Mod on a graphics forum...I know how to use vBulletin, but was baffled by this guy. Here's an image I modeled and rendered using Kabel and Copperplate in the appropriate places. I realize that Monopoly has gone through many graphical iterations over the decades, with different typefaces, but the fonts I chose seemed to be the ones most immediately recognizable for an audience today.
